Metaal en stof zijn de belangrijkste materialen die voor de hanglamp worden gebruikt, waarbij de stof een zachte textuur heeft waardoor de details gemakkelijk vorm te geven zijn, terwijl het metalen frame kan worden gebruikt om de lampenkap op zijn plaats te houden zonder van vorm te veranderen.
