Der Entwurf wurde von Plänen für das Kenotaph von Sir Isaac Newton inspiriert, die der Architekt Etienne Louis Boullée aus dem 18. Jahrhundert entworfen hatte, eine visionäre Ode an die Physik, die in einer atemberaubenden zeitgenössischen Form neu interpretiert wurde.
